Haynesville Shale Operator Saves $187,500

A major operator in the Haynesville Shale was experiencing gamma failures while drilling in extreme temperatures. The excessive NPT caused the operator to exceed their AFEs to drill these wells, so they contacted the Apex MWD team.

Our operations team outfitted an Apex MWD kit, with the Apex HT (185°C) tool, and deployed personnel to finish the remaining portion of the production section. The data from the gamma module provided the Geology team accurate logs at temperatures where they had previously needed to POOH.

Apex MWD reduced nonproductive time by drilling the operator’s well with no downhole failures and a fully functioning gamma module. The operator saved $187,500 by eliminating the need to trip due to the loss of gamma at elevated temperatures.
